There are many factors to consider when selecting a lawyer to handle your divorce.
One factor which is sometimes overlooked is your personality type and your lawyer’s personality type.
Some clients seem to gravitate to an attorney who is a lot like them. So, if you are aggressive, assertive and a controlling kind of person, you may do well with someone who is an “emotional clone” of yourself. The two of you could be a could team.
On the other hand, if you are passive, frightened and lacking in self-confidence and prefer to hand the matter over to a professional, you may want an aggressive attorney to represent you in your legal matter.
Sometimes, opposite types can work very well together.
In general, when choosing a professional in any field, I have a very basic and simple rule. Besides, credentials, experience, size of the firm and years of practice, you want to work with someone who meets two criteria.
They need to know what they are doing and be nice. And they need to be nice and know what they are doing.
